About Cheese


Cheese is an ancient food whose origins may predate recorded history. Probably discovered in Central Asia or the Middle East, cheesemaking spread to Europe and had become a sophisticated enterprise by Roman times. As Rome's influence receded, distinct local cheesemaking techniques emerged. This diversity reached its peak in the early industrial age and has declined somewhat since then due to mechanization and economic factors.

There are hundreds of types of cheese produced all over the world. Different styles and flavors of cheese are the result of using different species of bacteria and molds, different levels of milk fat, variations in length of aging, differing processing treatments (cheddaring, pulling, brining, mold wash) and different breeds of cows, goats, sheep, or other mammals.

Mozzarella Sticks ingredients list:


10 ounces of Mozzarella cheese.
2 medium eggs, beaten.
¾ cups of breadcrumbs, dry.
1 tablespoon of sesame seeds.
Cooking oil.


Instructions for Mozzarella Sticks:


Cut the Mozzarella into inch-long sticks.

Beat the eggs, then dip each cheese stick into the egg mixture.

Coat with breadcrumbs and sesame seed.

Fry in cooking oil until golden brown.

Apple and Cheese Pancakes recipe


Apple and Cheese Pancakes ingredients list:


4 medium eggs, separated.
1 cup of cottage cheese.
1 cup of apples, grated coarsely.
¾ cup of flour.
1 tablespoon of honey.
1 tablespoon of chopped almonds.
1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
½ teaspoon of cinnamon.
Pinch of salt.

Instructions for Apple and Cheese Pancakes:


Mix all of the ingredients, except the egg whites, together.

Beat the egg whites, then fold in.

Spray a suitably sized skillet with cooking spray.

Heat the skillet.

Drop batter to form pancakes.

Brown the pancakes.

Serve.


Broccoli Cheese Soup recipe


Broccoli Cheese Soup ingredients list:


4 chicken bouillon cubes.
4 cups water.
2 cans cream of chicken soup.
1 (10-12 oz) box chopped of broccoli.
1 1/2 cups raw potatoes, diced.
1 small onion, chopped.
1 pound Velveeta cheese.


Instructions for Broccoli Cheese Soup:


Boil 4 cups of water and dissolve bouillon in it.

Add the vegetables and cook over low heat until potatoes are soft.

Add the cheese and cook until melted.

Cheddar Ball recipe


Cheddar Ball ingredients list:


2 packets (8 oz) of cream cheese, softened.
1 ½ cups of grated cheddar cheese.
½ cup of sweet pickle relish.
2 teaspoons of minced onion.
½ teaspoon of salt.

½ cup of chopped nuts.

Instructions for Cheddar Ball:


Combine all of the ingredients except the chopped nuts; then roll into a ball.

Roll in the chopped nuts.

Cover and refrigerate.

Cheese Almond Ball recipe


Cheese Almond Ball ingredients list:


8 oz of cream cheese, softened.
8 oz of sharp cold pack cheese food, plain or with wine.
1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded.
1 cup of toasted sliced almonds.
2 tablespoons of chopped parsley.
1 tablespoon of grated onion.

Instructions for Cheese Almond Ball:


Beat the cheese, milk, onion and ¾ cup of toasted almonds until well blended. Chill at least one hour.

Shape into a ball; then wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight.

Chop the remaining almonds and add the parsley.

Roll the ball in the almond and parsley mixture.

Rewrap the ball until ready for use.

Remove from refrigerator about one hour before serving, unwrap and allow to come to room temperature.

Serve with crackers.
